For the change of your cardan joint we need to know which version of the KAT you have. I have seen your pictures and videos on your website befor, and i think it is an KAT1 A1.1 8x8, right?
And which cardan joint do you want to change?

Hi Sverrir,
welcome to this community of KAT fans and enthusiasts.

Guessing from the pictures of your website, I assume your 2 MAN KAT are bascially A1 8x8 wide body (2900mm) - and then heavily modified for your usage scenario. If this is the case, then a more precise description which joint need some maintenance would be helpful (the google translator used a generic term - it could be the joint on the steering wheel, or the double U-joint on the front axles or one of the cardan joints).

Please add some additional information so we can better help (if possible) - which one, what happened and why you think you need to change it.

Hi Sverrir

it is quite simple, but you need a (hydraulic) press to separate the parts from each other. I don't think, there is a difference between KAT1 and A1. This description applies to any joint.

Mark the position of all parts of the shaft to ensure proper reassembly. The shaft is balanced, so you need to assemble all parts in the way they had been delivered.
Disassemble that part of the shaft with the bad joint. Now only half of the shaft needs to be carried, which is quite convenient. If you want, you can remove the complete shaft from the vehicle, but handling without a crane in the workshop is a tough job. And grease needs to be replaced in any case.
To disassemble the joint, remove the securing springs from the back of each outer bearing ring.
Start with flange part.
Press on one side until the joint gets in contact with the inner surface. On the other end, the outer bearing and the needles can be removed.
Press into opposite direction and remove second bearing.
Remove flange and proceed same way with shaft.
Assembly is similar.
First, insert the new joint into shaft.
Press one bearing into the unit until you can insert 1st securing spring.
Insert spring.
Press second bearing into position and insert securing spring.
Proceed same with flange part.
Remove old grease from slider and replace with new grease.
Slide both parts of shaft into each other in the same position as it was before disassembly.

That's it.
