Engine power lost, not starting.

Hello everybody.

Thank you for your interest in the project. We have not started the engine swap yet. We have been busy getting our new MAN KAT ready for operation.


I have been in contact with the local Deutz dealer and MAN dealer in Iceland and we are still trying to figure out if the engine or fuel distributor is to blame for the brakedown.

The pictures are very good to see what we can expect.

I will keep you informed!

wich kind of Truck, Engine have you ? there are many diffrent points !
-Kat 1 with Deutz V8 typ 413
-Kat 1 A1 with Deutz V8 typ 513
-Kat 1 A1... with MAN 6 zyl. ?

thanks for the impressive pics. But forget what i told you about the engine swap. That was for the older KATI with the predecessor engine.

Hello everybody.

An update on the MAN KAT engine problem in Iceland. The fuel distributor and the diesel injectors were rebuilt and reinstalled. After that I went for a test drive. During witch the smoke continued but the engine ran smooth. Sadly though the engine would not restart the next morning so on a trailer bed and back to the workshop.

There they found out that the fuel distributor and engine timing was of by 10°and after that was corrected the engine has been running normally and the truck is back on the Glacier.

We hope that we have been able to overcome our problem for now.

The engine was determined to be wrong on diesel distributor timing. By 10°. After that was corrected the truck has been working perfectly.
